This week sees the launch of the Electric Revolution Skills Hub

This week we have seen the launch of the Electric Revolution Skills Hub at a 2 day conference in Birmingham, until recently I hadn’t heard about the PEMD (Power Electronic Machines and Drives) community, but with offshore wind growing on the Essex/London coast line, a new manufacturing plant for hydrogen batteries on our doorstop, I need to improve my understanding of this new sector and what skills will be needed going forwards. This new hub gives some information which I thought might be helpful to share.

The Electric Revolution Skills Hub is a digital platform that provides impartial information and guidance to the UK’s PEMD community about training courses and educational materials. It connects PEMD training and education providers with employers and learners to help grow the workforce needed to build future net zero technologies.

The hub was created by Coventry University with funding from the Driving the Electric Revolution challenge at UK Research and Innovation. The challenge, delivered by Innovate UK, has awarded Coventry University £1 million to create and develop an online platform to support the growth of the PEMD workforce in the UK.

The hub provides information on a wide range of topics, including:

  • PEMD training courses and educational materials
  • Career paths in PEMD
  • The latest news and developments in PEMD
  • Opportunities for networking and collaboration

The hub also offers a range of services, including:

  • A job board.
  • A directory of training providers.
  • A forum for discussion and debate.

The hub is designed to be a one-stop shop for anyone interested in learning more about PEMD or developing their career in this field.
