Materials Handling/Logistics Engineer

Our prestigious client, a worldwide manufacturer, is looking to recruit a Material Handling / Logistics Engineer.

Main responsibilities :
• Promotes material handling safety and efficiency through implementation of process / method changes, ergonomic application and safety awareness.
• Achieving lean production through optimization of the material flow.
• Engineer all material handling activities (internal logistics) to support operations and the organizations business plan.
• Obtain an in depth knowledge of current material flow processes.
• Ensure an uninterrupted flow of material in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner through the implementation of best practices and adherence to current process guidelines.
• Identify opportunities for the elimination of waste in the material flow process - including but not limited to warehouse layout, internal logistics, kitting, sequencing, packaging, transportation and I.T. systems.
• Establish standards and labour requirements.
• Plan and follow up on production re-balances with regard to material handling / material flow activities.
• Serves as a co-ordinator with the customers engineering department and management to ensure that all affected parties are aware and prepared for material handling and logistics projects.

The candidate must also possess a proven knowledge of material handling processes, ability to visualize future opportunities, plan actions and lead team towards successful completion of company objectives.
Proficient in Excel, Power Point and Word. A knowledge of SMART, CMMS and Wherenet who be a distinct advantage.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience -
Degree in Logistics, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
OR
Three years of Engineering experience or equivalent experience within a Logistics Function(Manufacturing).

Salary: £38,000
Location: Dagenham, Essex
